Police have made an arrest in connection with a pipe attack on a man as he sat on a bench in a Brooklyn subway station.

The NYPD says Leon Sims of Brooklyn was arrested Tuesday on assault charges. The name of his attorney was not immediately known.

The victim fell onto the tracks after he was hit in the head repeatedly with the pipe on Sunday. He was attacked while waiting on the northbound side of the platform of the Ralph Avenue station.

He was taken to a hospital in stable condition.

The suspect initially escaped by running down the tracks.
