Young man in Brooklyn killed by model helicopter

A 19-year-old remote-controlled helicopter enthusiast was killed in a Brooklyn park on Thursday when the helicopter he was flying struck him in the head, the Wall Street Journal reports.

The tragedy occurred around 3:30 p.m. at Calvert Vaux Park in Gravesend, Brooklyn.

Roman Pirozek, a Queens resident, was flying the helicopter when it struck him, scalping his head. He died at the scene. Pirozek was vice president of the Seaview Rotary Wings, a model helicopter flying club. His father was with him when the accident occurred.
