West Nile Virus spraying to commence in Brooklyn on September 3

Late summer is here and the bugs and mosquitoes are out, so the city Department of Health (DOH) has scheduled a round of pesticide spraying on September 3 to combat the spread of West Nile Virus in Brooklyn.

Neighborhoods to be targeted this time include: Brighton Beach, Bergen Beach, Coney Island, East Flat Bush, Flatlands, Georgetown, Gravesend, Gerritsen Beach, Homecrest, Marine Park, Manhattan Beach, Midwood, Middle Basin, Mill Island, Mill Basin, Sea Gate, and Sheepshead Bay.

This includes zip codes 11203, 11210, 11214, 11223,11224, 11229,11230, 11234, and 11235.

The pesticide to be used is Anvil 10+10 (Sumithrin).

Spraying is scheduled, weather permitting, for 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, September 3.
