Gene Wilder once famously sang to the lucky winners, “You’ll be in a world of pure imagination.” Families will have that same opportunity when the Brooklyn Public Library brings their Kidsmobile to Pier 6. Adults and children can read books and enjoy the special programs provided by the public library. Held from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m., the Kidsmobile will be at Pier 6, Brooklyn Bridge Park, 334 Furman Street.

Need to get a relief from all the stresses that come with daily life? Tai Chi Qi Gong classes are being offered at the cost of $10 today starting at 1 p.m. Attendees will participate in 40 minutes of deep breathing, chair exercises, and stand-up exercises. Classes will be held at Shore Parkway Jewish Center, located at 8885 26th Avenue.

Sponsored by the 72nd and 68th Precincts, NYPD’s “Combat Theft” event is being offered to the public; it will be held from noon until 4 p.m. at Lutheran Medical Center, 150 55th Street. Take precaution with your personal belongings including electronics, vehicles, and bicycles, and register them for free at the event.

Love to accessorize your outfits with jewelry? Learn how to set stones yourself in a 2-day jewelry workshop called “Stone Settings: Prongs,” held today and Tuesday, August 6. The class costs $179 for members and $214 for non-members. In the mood to hear some new music? The Brooklyn-based funk band Red Baraat will be performing at the Fort Greene Park Conservancy’s second Greene Music show. DJ Duane Harriott and Debo Band will be playing in the show as well. The venue is Myrtle Lawn at Fort Greene Park with the performances beginning at 6 p.m.

Audience members will be in for a treat when the Barenaked Ladies headline the “Last Summer on Earth” tour with openers Ben Folds Five, Guster, and Boothby Graffoe here in Brooklyn. Come Celebrate Brooklyn at the Prospect Park Bandshell, 9th Street & Prospect Park West when the concert begins at 6 p.m.

Aspiring artists will have the opportunity to meet Bill Carroll, an artist with three solo gallery shows under his belt. He will be available to talk to at the Trestle Gallery, located on the 3rd floor at 168 7th Street, from 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Grab your boogie shoes as you’re transported back to a time when disco music and dancing were the hottest things. Bring a chair or blanket to watch Love Funk perform funk and disco classics from the 1970s. Part of the Concerts In The Park series, sponsored by State Senator Marty Golden, it is free and open to the public at 79th Street and Shore Road. The concert begins at 7 p.m. and will conclude approximately at 9:30 p.m.

You’ll be able to whip up some new dishes after you have the opportunity to meet Ben Sargent at his latest book signing. Flavorful, delicious seafood recipes will be available in his newest book, “The Catch: Sea-to-Table Recipes, Stories, and Secrets.” The signing will be held at Pier 1 Brooklyn Bridge Park, 334 Furman Street, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Take a hands-on workshop with 3rd Ward entitled “Casting With Pewter: Clay Sculpting and Silicone Molds” at 195 Morgan Avenue.  This is a three-day class held tonight, August 6, and August 13 from 7 p.m. until 10 p.m. each night. Attend singer Mary Alouette’s EP release party tonight at Cameo Gallery, located at 93 North 6th Street. Tickets for the event cost $8, and will be held from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

One of the most classic romantic tales of all times meets hip-hop in this new interpretation of “King Kong.” Written and directed by Alfred Preisser and Randy Weiner, the play production will be performed at Herbert Von King Park tonight at 8 p.m. Being performed on SummerStage and being part of the “This Is Hip Hop” series,” it is free and open to the public.

The Fifth Avenue Committee will be hosting a free screening of the award-winning movie “My Brooklyn.” The movie showing will be held at Freddy’s, located at 627 5th Avenue, and will approximately begin at 8 p.m.

A free showing of “Central Park Five” will be available for all to watch tonight, starting at 8 p.m. The movie will be shown at Dag Hammarskjold Plaza, East 47th Street and 2nd Avenue.
