An elderly woman was fatally struck by a car in Bensonhurst on Saturday, July 13.

King Fong, 79, was killed as she crossed Bay Parkway near 72nd Street, on Saturday at 9:07 p.m. According to witnesses, she was crossing against the light, walking westbound – but not in the crosswalk – when a Dodge four-door sedan traveling southbound on Bay Parkway hit her. She allegedly flew up in the air and hit the windshield before falling on the ground. The male driver of the vehicle remained on the scene.

Upon arrival, police observed the victim, who lived just blocks away, unconscious and unresponsive on the ground. EMS transported her to Lutheran Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Police from the 62nd Precinct, as well as Highway Patrol are still investigating the incident.
