NYPD continues search for suspect who shot Brooklyn cop in East New York
Police are searching for the suspect(s) who shot an East New York police officer in the leg outside the Cypress Hills Houses near 360 Fountain Avenue, late on the July 4th holiday, leaving him with non-life threatening injuries at Jamaica Hospital.
Police Officer Jamil Sarwar was on foot patrol with his partner within the public housing development when they received a radio call about a shooting where officers had lost sight of the suspects once they entered 1260 Sutter Avenue, at around 10:45 p.m.. While en route, the officers “heard additional shots fired” and took cover, at which point Sarwar realized he had been shot in the right thigh.
A search for the armed suspect(s) continues and the investigation is ongoing.
