Supporters of Long Island College Hospital (LICH) in Cobble Hill cancelled a “Black Tie Rally” planned to take place outside Governor Andrew Cuomo’s spring gala at the Plaza Hotel on Tuesday night.

Supporters cited rumors that LICH’s ER may reopen by the end of the week as the reason the rally was cancelled, but the Brooklyn Eagle received no official confirmation of that at this time.

SUNY Downstate Medical Center, which oversees LICH, closed several critical care wards and banned ambulances from bringing patients to LICH’s emergency room last Thursday, in violation of a court order.
