The St. Athanasius community had quite a few reasons to celebrate at this year’s bazaar, held June 12 through June 17 along Bay Parkway near 61st Street.

Monsignor David Cassato, the parish’s pastor, told this paper that not only was the event a fundraiser for the school, but this year it celebrated the 100th anniversary of the church, as well as the Feast of St. Anthony.

“The parish bazaar along with the Feast of Saint Anthony has been part of the fabric of the parish for many years,” Cassato said. “This year we tried to step it up a bit, with a St. Anthony procession on June 9 and masses on June 13.”

At the bazaar, hundreds enjoyed rides, games, food, music, entertainment, DJs and “everything you can imagine,” Cassato said.

“The best part is watching the joy in the faces of all the kids on the rides,” he concluded.
