Bay Ridge danced its heart as it raised funds for the Francesco Loccisano Memorial Foundation.

The lights were turn down low and the music cranked up high as dancers showed off their talents and their smiles were as big as their hearts, in the gym of Holy Angels Catholic Academy, on Saturday, April 27.

This event proved you can raise money, raise awareness and raise sprits all while having fun!

The concept of this dance-a-thon originated with Matthew Jon Durnin of Bay Ridge, who loves to dance and loves to give back to his community. He approached the foundation’s board chairman, Kevin J. Breen, with this idea and was given the go ahead to coordinate the first event. A year of hard work that preceded the dance-a-thon was well worth it. It was a team effort and the night was proven to be a great success.

Special thanks go out to chairman Kevin J. Breen; coordinator, recruiter, promoter Matthew Jon Durnin; party planner, decorator, promoter Paulette Benware; promoter, set-up Colleen Dolan (promote, set-up); Rebecca Doudak (photography); Denise Durnin (in charge of setting up the venue and wrapping the raffle gifts); Moira Knutsen (raffle seller) Entertainment by Trio DJ’s, and — last but not least — we would like to thank Father Noone for allowing us to hold the dance in the gym at Holy Angels Catholic Academy.
