It does not feel like spring today, with chilly temps in the low 40s through the low 50s and winds moving northeast at 10 to 20 mph.

Fortunately, we have something to look forward to: tomorrow will be in the 70s! How’s that for weather whiplash?

Today, the sun will set at 7:44 p.m. and the moon is still in its waxing gibbous phase.

Five things to know today:

  • Police have released a sketch of the woman, described as being in her teens or early 20s, whose body was found in a burnt suitcase last month in Bushwick. [NY1]
  • Post-marathon bombings, the NYPD will be utilizing more security and counterterrorism technology and mobile cameras at major parades and events. [NY1]
  • Disgraced former congressmember and possible mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner is back on Twitter. [NYPost]
  • Sunny’s, the beloved long-time longshoreman bar in Red Hook that has been closed since flooding during Hurricane Sandy, is aiming for a June reopening. One last fundraiser will take place on May 1 at The Bell House. [Grub Street NY; Gothamist]
  • NYC Council Speaker and mayoral hopeful Christine Quinn is pursuing raising the age limit to buy cigarettes, from 18 to 21. The proposed bill does not include a restriction on electronic cigarettes. [Gothamist]

Plus 1:

  • Over 90 percent of Sandy-related insurance claims have been settled, claims trade group Insurance Information Institute. But with that number excluding flood damage claims, the claim may not hold much water with New Yorkers. [Reuters]
