Teen arrested in Bay Ridge bomb scare was just 14
A 14-year-old boy has been arrested in connection with a bomb scare — an apparent prank that hit Bay Ridge several days ago, police said.
On April 17, local residents, already on edge from the Boston terrorist incident, noticed a suspicious-looking device that was reportedly left at the home of the retired firefighter Fifth Avenue and 68th Street. Several houses on the block were evacuated, and the Bomb Squad was called in to investigate.
The device, consisting of a propane canister with electrical wires protruding out of it, turned out to be harmless.
