As Dyker Heights residents remained on edge in the face of a rash of home break-ins in the community, police made a burglary arrest on the night of March 19.

The suspect, identified by police as Michael Riggi, 40, of 1153 77ht St., in Dyker Heights, has only been charged with one count of burglary and not with the spree of break-ins, but a Police Department spokeswoman said “the investigation is continuing.”

Riggi is charged with breaking into a house on 11th Avenue between 78th and 79th Streets, police said.

State Sen. Marty Golden (R-C-Bay Ridge-southern Brooklyn) praised the 68th Precinct, which made the arrest. “The 68th Precinct has done it again. I commend our captain, our detectives and our police officers who have tonight, arrested an individual wanted in connection with the recent home invasions in Dyker Heights,” he said.

“We remain a safe community, with crime down 13 percent this year, and we continue to appreciate and respect the law enforcement work of the men and women of the 68th Precinct.  We will not tolerate these criminal acts in our community,” Golden said.
