Brooklyn BookBeat: ‘The Bronfman Haggadah’ presents unique look at the Passover Seder
Last month Brooklyn BookBeat featured Brooklyn By The Book – a monthly literary series curated by Park Slope’s Community Bookstore and Congregation Beth Elohim. The two historic Park Slope institutions joined forces last fall when the organizations discovered their mutual desire to create a program devoted to serving their particular community.
On Thursday, March 21, Brooklyn By The Book will present an evening with Edgar M. Bronfman, world-renowned philanthropist and Jewish leader who has recently published “The Bronfman Haggadah.” Bronfman will discuss his contemporary retelling of the Exodus story, which includes a diverse group of readings from such figures as abolitionist Frederick Douglass and poet Marge Piercy.
Jan Aronson, who illustrated “The Bronfman Hagaddah” with stunning watercolors, will also appear at Thursday’s event. Bronfman and Aronson will discuss their book with Rabbi Andy Bachman.
