Lady Liberty will be taking visitors again come Independence Day, 2013.

Repairs to Ellis Island’s damaged energy infrastructure and destroyed docks are nearly completed, announced Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar in a statement today, so the National Parks Service will be ready to reopen the island on July 4, 2013 — just in time for the holiday celebrations.

The security screening operation in Battery Park should also be operable by that Thursday.
