On Thursday, Feb. 7, Fontbonne played their last home game of the regular season hosting the St. Edmund’s Eagles on Senior Night.  This year, the Bonnies have four graduating seniors from the Varsity Basketball team; Cindy Henderson, Siobhan Sammon, Michele Moran and Kristen Correo.  At half time teammates along with Varsity Head Coach Stephen Oliver and Athletic Director Donna Schirippa honored their seniors with flowers, plaques and fond memories of seasons past.

After beating archrival Bishop Kearney 43-35 on the road earlier in the week to earn a first place tie with St. Edmund’s Prep, the Bonnies seized their opportunity to beat the Eagles as the outgoing seniors shone on the court to capture first place with a 53-48 win.  In particular, senior Michele Moran anchored the team from the low post as she scored 15 points as point guard Kate Oliver (14 points) set Moran up with scoring opportunities throughout the game. On the defensive side coming back from an ankle injury, Kate Sullivan (7 points) controlled the boards, while St. Edmund’s Kellie O’Neil scored 23 points with long 3 point shots all game over Fontbonne’s perimeter.

As the regular season draws to a close, Fontbonne’s win gives the 8-1 Bonnies a first place lead over second place St. Edmund’s Prep at 7-2, while 9-3 Bishop Kearney is in third place.
