Not every subway rider plays ostrich when good taste and personal integrity are thrown to the wind. As a crazed preacher ranted about boobs, male genitalia and how Michael Jackson died because he was gay, one straphanger stood his ground and won applause.

“I’m a gay man,” the straphanger told the preacher. “And I’m a good man. And I’m a gay man and Jesus loves me. Jesus loves me!”

The scene was captured on Saturday on the Number 2 train by Elena Beloff [http://www.elenabeloff.com]. A highlight of the talkback starts at 1:33.

“Fascinating how one man stood up for gays and all good people today,” Beloff wrote.
