The invitation reads, “Fish, chips, malt vinegar, beer, and democracy. What more do you want?”

What more, indeed.

The Bay Ridge Democrats, a political club led by Justin Brannan, communications director for Councilman Vincent Gentile (D-Bay Ridge-Dyker Heights-Bensonhurst), is holding a party in a Third Avenue bar to watch President Obama deliver his State of the Union Address on Feb. 12.

The speech-watching party will take place at the Longbow Pub & Pantry, at 7316 Third Ave., starting at 8 p.m. The president will speak to a joint session of congress starting at 9 p.m.

Brannan said he hopes to have a big crowd. “All are welcome. Bring your friends!” the invitation reads.

This isn’t the first time Brannan and the Bay Ridge Democrats have watched the State of the Union Address from the cozy confines of a pub. “This is our third one,” he told the Brooklyn Daily Eagle. The club members and their friends have gathered in a local bar for the past two years to see President Obama deliver the big speech.
