Steve’s Key Lime Pie Shop To Move to Pier 40
In the wake of Hurricane Sandy, many homes and businesses were ravaged and are now faced with the daunting task of rebuilding. For at least one Brooklyn business, however, this tragedy has transformed into an opportunity to expand and grow.
Steve’s Authentic Key Lime Pie, the long-time beloved Red Hook confectionary, will be relocating to a new, larger space by April 1. The new space – located at 185 Van Dyke Street on Pier 40 – is only 200 yards from their current partially reopened space on Pier 41, and is three times larger. This move affords the business the chance to grow and bring their popular product to more people.
With a loading deck, more modern electric wiring, and more flood-resistant architecture, the new building lends itself to better production, better service, and better accessibility in case of future emergencies, which is important to Steve’s, as 30% of the sheetrock in their old location had to be torn out and replaced.
