Afternoon of dance at Poly Prep this Sunday, January 13
Come to Poly Prep Country Day School’s sixth annual Afternoon of Student Choreography on Sunday, January 13, and help raise money for for two charities for people with disabilities.
Each year, Poly presents a dance concert choreographed by and danced by Poly students that benefits a community charity. This year promises to be an “eclectic show” featuring more than 100 dancers, the school said. The choreography also serves as Jacqueline Chirdo’s ’13 Senior Project.
The dance concert takes place at 3 p.m. in the Richard Perry Theatre on Poly’s Dyker Heights campus.
Pam Pollock of the Performing Arts Department, said, “Over 100 upper school students will be performing in the Afternoon of Choreography led by Jacqueline Chirdo, who I have been guiding through the process with an independent study. Over 15 student choreographers, and some alumni of the dance program, have created an eclectic show, with dance styles ranging from Indian to hip-hop to modern dance set to spoken word.”
