Brooklyn tourist killed in Jamaican car accident
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Police in Jamaica say three tourists from the U.S. have died in a traffic collision on the island’s north coast, including a Brooklyn woman.
Authorities say the women were killed when their car crashed into a minibus just east of Montego Bay on Wednesday. The victims were identified as 76-year-old Gloria Capleton of Brooklyn, New York and 53-year-old Claudette Grand and 34-year-old Vanessa Brown of Marlboro, Maryland.
Police say the driver of the car carrying the women is hospitalized but expected to recover. They say another passenger in the car received medical treatment and was released, along with the driver and several passengers of the minibus.
Police said Thursday that they are investigating what caused the accident.
