New Year, new babies

The start of 2013 was also the beginning of new lives, with babies born just after midnight at Brooklyn hospitals. At 12:12 a.m., Nickesha and Odane Clarke welcomed their son, Orane, at SUNY Downstate Medical Centers University Hospital. The couple hails from East New York. The baby weighed in at 6 pounds, 14.4 ounces.

Just half an hour later, at 12:54 a.m. at Methodist Hospital in Park Slope, Jungmin Oh and husband Benjamin Brown welcomed their first child, a girl they named Gena. The baby weighed seven pounds, two ounces at birth, and was 19.5 inches in length.
