The best moments on stage are not limited to Broadway. Acting legend Kevin Spacey proved that this year in his performance as Richard III at the Brooklyn Academy of Music.

Among the Associated Press’ top 10 theater moments of 2012, Spacey’s performance in Brooklyn took the sixth spot. Here’s what AP writer Mark Kennedy had to say:

With his aviator sunglasses and military jacket brimming with medals, Spacey’s Richard at the Brooklyn Academy of Music was overblown and cartoonish and yet impossible to stop watching, part Groucho Marx and part Moammar Gadhafi — a sarcastic, snarling tornado of resentment whose reign of terror somehow was funny.”
