The beautiful Christmas tree at Owls Head Park was lit after a festive ceremony on Monday, December 3.

The Owls Head Park Horticultural Group, which belongs to the Shore Road Parks Conservancy and is headed by Javier Acevedo, strung the dazzling lights on the tree.

Members of the Guild for Exceptional Children’s day workshops worked on homemade ornaments.

“I thought it would be cute to get them involved,” said Dave Matthews, area manager of Owls Head Park by way of the SRPC, which organized the event. “It came out great.”

There was a tent with hot chocolate, cider and cookies to warm up the revelers. Matthews said that neighbors also donated homemade candies and cookies.

The Guild choir performed holiday favorites. Music and sound were donated by Matthews, who is also affiliated with NYC Mix Masters.

“The whole night went perfectly,” Matthews said.
