Being funny must run in the Murphy family. Eddie Murphy, the world-famous funnyman-actor, is going to have to take a back seat to his brother, at least as far as the soldiers at the Fort Hamilton Army Base are concerned.

Comedian Charlie Murphy, Eddie’s older brother, will be coming to the fort on Saturday, Dec. 1, to appear in the Fort Hamilton Comedy Show. The show, which is also open to the general public, will take place at the fort’s post theater, starting at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25 each and visitors must be 18 or older to attend.

The comedy show is aimed at bringing some laughter into the lives of soldiers who have been working around the clock to assist communities around New York City that were hit by Hurricane Sandy, officials said.

“After Hurricane Sandy we felt a good way to lift everyone’s sprits would be with a good laugh. Troops that were deployed to Ft. Hamilton to aid the victims affected by the storm have been working around the clock. We hope this comedy show will put a smile on their face, and let them know how much we appreciate what they have done,” said Trevor Loew, one of the organizers of the show.
