With the goal of supporting the arts in Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts has partnered with Modell’s Sporting Goods on a new fundraising campaign called “Team Weeks.”

Modell’s Team Weeks has actually been around since 1997, explained Rick Berubé, the interim managing director at Brooklyn Center for the Performing Arts.

“It was established as a way for the corporation to give back to the communities in which its stores are located, and since its inception has given over $5,000,000 towards helping organizations meet their fundraising goals,” he explained.

The campaign consists of downloading a coupon from: http://www.brooklyncenteronline.org/downloads/Modells_coupon.pdf which will save consumers 15 percent on the purchase of sports equipment, apparel, athletic shoes and other items at any Modell’s.

The coupon can be used for multiple purchases, and on regular as well as on sale-priced merchandise, so don’t throw it out after you’ve used it.

Effective from October 1 to December 31, 2012, five percent of the purchase price will be donated by Modell’s to the Brooklyn Center.

“It’s really a win-win-win situation – Modell’s gets more business, our patrons get a discount, and we get support to bring great art to Brooklyn,” Berubé noted.
