The late Dominick Della Rocca was a well-known community-minded business and civic leader. During his early career, he ran the famous Pete’s Restaurant on Myrtle Avenue, later opening Della Rocca’s Restaurant on Bay Ridge Avenue. In 1985, he led the annual Children’s Ragamuffin Parade as its grand marshal.

While chief mayor of the then-Locality Mayors, he revitalized the organization, having it renamed the Community Mayors. His daughter Shelly was elected to carry on the legacy of this prominent civic group.

Florence ThristinoHarrison enjoys the designation as Mayor of Bay Ridge from the organization. He also serves as one of its legal counsels. The deputy chief mayor is attorney Vincent Petraro.
