Brooklyn’s River Cafe swamped by Sandy’s surge

It may be on a converted barge, but because the famous River Café restaurant under the Brooklyn Bridge is attached to dry land, it was unable to ride out Hurricane Sandy’s storm surge. The restaurant says it will be closed until further notice for cleaning and repairs. Shown above: The restaurant pumps seawater from its interior the day after the storm.
