Good morning. Today is the 298th day of the year. The headline of the Brooklyn Daily Eagle of Oct. 24, 1929, signaled the beginning of the Great Depression: “Wall Street Panic as Stocks Crash.” The article had the subhead “Stock Crash in Bids To Sell; Billions Lost.”

Well-known people who were born today include basketball coach Rudy Tomjanovich, actor Dwight Schultz (“Star Trek” The Next Generation”) and actor Stanley Livinsgton (“My Three Sons”).
