The scene under the vaulted Manhattan Bridge Archway on Thursday was an only-in-Brooklyn mixture of dining, drinking, mini-golf and pop-up office workers, busily emailing and blogging in the shade.

Joining the Archway’s popular Brooklyn Flea pop-up food and beer event, Loosecubes a company that matches offices with extra desks with people looking for desk space operated a reserved section of picnic tables for the wandering self-employed.

“We’re running a series of awesome offices-for-a-day in unexpected locations like the Archway,” said Loosecube’s Yasmine Yu, whose official title at the company is “Commander Awesome.”

“We’re doing it every Thursday in August. Stop by for a few hours or for the whole day, grab some great food. We have WiFi and power!” Tables are reserved from 10 a.m.–6 p.m., she told the Brooklyn Daily Eagle.

All summer the Brooklyn Flea has been collaborating with the DUMBO Improvement District to provide artisonal food vendors under the Arch on Thursdays and Fridays, making the site a pop-up destination.

Beer and wine were recently added to the mix. A sign set up by the Brooklyn Bridge-themed mini-golf taunted: “A free beer to anyone who gets a hole-in-one.” Many tried, but no one conquered (at least while this reporter was at the scene).

Food and drinks are available on Thursdays from 11:30 a.m.–8 p.m. and Fridays (food only) from 11:30 a.m.–4 p.m.
