Here’s to LICH’s Red, White and Blue

The presentation of a new Stars and Stripes marked Flag Day at University Hospital of Brooklyn at Long Island College Hospital last Thursday. Children from P.S. 15 in Red Hook sang “Let There Be Peace On Earth” as George Wahlert (left), director of the hospital’s medical library, contriburted the flag, originally flown at the Ohio homecoming of Apollo XI astronaut Neil Armstrong, to hospital COO John Byrne. Flag Day commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United States on June 14, 1775; the U.S. Army also celebrates its birthday on this date. The new flag will fly at the hospital’s main entrance on Hicks Street in Cobble Hill.
