PARK SLOPE Last year, ten Saint Saviour High School students began volunteering for a program of Park Slope’s Saint Saviour Church called “Brown Baggers.” Once a month the students and some of the church parishioners visit Tompkins Square Park in the East Village and deliver food, socks, gloves, and other supplies to the homeless. The girls also make sandwiches to distribute to the hungry.

Recently the students returned to the park with their donations – more than 100 lunch bags. One man was so happy to see the girls that he grabbed an old guitar he had found and started to play.

Giving to the homeless has motivated them to do more good works, the girls say.
