The Brooklyn Express Drumline, with 14 members ages 13 to 21, has been in existence for five years, said founder and director Karl Menard. Menard said the drumline, a community-oriented group, has played for high-end venues including New York Knicks games.

Drumlines traveled from across the country to compete in the drumline battle, which benefits the Brooklyn Steppers Marching Band.

Winners of Sunday’s competition included: X-Factor (1st Place), The Approaching Storm Marching Band (2nd Place), Berean Community Drumline (BCD Knights) (3rd Place), Brooklyn Top Secret (4th Place), and The Brooklyn Express Drumline (5th Place), along with Black Fire Percussion. Cold Steel Drummers entertained.
