Life Without Parole for Brooklyn Drug Lord

SOMERSET, Pa. (AP) — A Brooklyn man has been convicted of first-degree murder for hiring two men to kill his “best friend” in Pennsylvania for skimming money from a drug operation.

A Somerset County jury deliberated for about 90 minutes before convicting 33-year-old Calvin Mallory Jr., of Brooklyn, on Thursday. Mallory faces a mandatory life sentence without parole when he’s formally sentenced June 27.

Investigators say 29-year-old Bryant Adderley, also of Brooklyn, was killed Aug. 17, 2009 in the kitchen of a duplex near Bakersville, about 60 miles southeast of Pittsburgh.

The alleged shooters cooperated with authorities, as did a third man who drove them to the home but claimed to not know of the murder plans beforehand.

That man testified that Mallory asked him, “How did ‘Godfather Part II’ go?” during a cell phone call just after the hit.
