Brooklyn Charley’s Franchisee Wins Top Honor From Company

COLUMBUS — Charley’s Grilled Subs, a chain known for its signature Philly Steak sandwiches, recently honored Mukul Deb, a Brooklyn franchisee, with the 2011 Rookie of the Year Award. It was presented last month at a company ceremony in Columbus, Ohio.
Deb, whose restaurant is in the Kings Plaza Shopping Center, earned the top award for his “early success and continuous dedication.”
Deb opened his store in May 2010 with one goal in mind — to make his Charley’s Grilled Subs “the best operation in Kings Plaza.” In the process, he made “his employees feel like family and his guests feel like old friends,” officials said.
In fact, his team members know many of their regular guests by name and start making their sandwiches before they even step up to order.
Additionally, all of his restaurant inspections are above 90 percent, enabling him to generate positive comparable store sales in 2011. “This franchisee has a great attitude, is supportive of brand initiatives and adopts system-wide promotions,” a spokesperson said.
Said Deb, “I am absolutely flattered to be named Charley’s Rookie of the Year.” He added, “This wouldn’t have been possible without all the hard work and devotion from every employee at the Kings Plaza location.”
