The state Attorney General’s Office yesterday announced an 11-count indictment of Eddie Calderon-Melendez, the founder and former CEO of the beleaguered Williamsburg Charter High School and Believe High Schools Network.

According to Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, Calderon-Melendez received over $1.4 million in compensation from 2005 to 2010, but he never filed a tax return and failed to pay over $70,000 in taxes. Schneiderman also charged that Calderon-Melendez tried to cover up his crimes by submitting false tax returns. The indictment was secured in Kings County Supreme Court.
