UPDATE: Sergey Mamonov has been jailed without bail after admitting he killed and dismembered his roommate. He appeared in court Wednesday to face a second-degree murder charge. There was no immediate response to a message left with his attorney today.

A Sheepshead Bay carpenter who was found to be storing what looked like human remains in his refrigerator on Tuesday has admitted to killing and dismembering his roommate, according to police sources who spoke to the Daily News.

Police were led to Sergey Mamontov’s apartment on a tip that his roommate was missing, according to the News.

When they arrived at the 4th-floor apartment on Nostrand Avenue at about 1 p.m. on Tuesday, they found Mamontov and what appeared to be the disassembled remains of a human body, some of which were being stored in buckets filled with a bleach-acid mixture in an apparent attempt to dissolve them, as reported by the New York Post.

Mamontov was taken to the 61st Precinct Stationhouse where he confessed to police that he murdered his roommate, in part because the roommate was noisy and kept him up at night partying with friends who Mamontov deemed unsavory, according to sources who spoke to the News.

One of Mamontov’s neighbors said that he had numerous roommates in the last couple years and that he had recently made an unsettling comment about the one he admits to have killed, according to the News.

"Maybe two weeks ago I saw Sergey and I asked him, 'You have another roommate?’" Eugene Lisoukova, 66, told the News. "He said, 'Yes, but he will go away soon and no one will see him anymore.'"

Another of Mamontov’s neighbors who spoke to the News vouched for Mamontov’s character and criticized the dead roommate.

"I know Sergey for 15 years. He was a good guy, a very nice guy," said Vladimir Sirkicov, as quoted by the News. "The other guy was very bad. The one who died was terrible. He was crazy. He was a drunk all the time."

The name of the victim has not yet been made public. Mamontov is expected to be charged with murder.
