The Metropolitan Council on Jewish Poverty is issuing pre-paid American Express debit cards to about 15,000 families for Passover foods, which are typically fairly expensive due to special requirements. Religious law requires that only “kosher for Passover” foods (which don’t include leavened bread, bread products or most grains) be eaten and that a special set of dishes, pots and pans be used.
