‘Looks like a driving lesson gone bad,’ said a fire battalion chief at the scene after a black Acura had crashed into a corner support for a sidewalk construction shed at the corner of Pierrepont and Willow Streets late Sunday afternoon. At top, an emergency worker carries a chock to help stabilize the tilted shed.  An eyewitness remarked that a total of seven Fire Department vehicles initially responded to the incident, plus an ambulance and police cars.  Office of Emergency Management (OEM) personnel also responded.  A young man had apparently been teaching his female companion how to drive, when control was lost. No one was hurt. As a police officer interviewed the man and checked his insurance credentials, the petite young woman, perhaps not yet out of her teens, stood looking dazed.  By two hours later, as Ladder Company 118 from Middagh Street stood by, workers were already dismantling the damaged section of the shed (pictured below).
