Two Years After Brooklyn Model’s Body Found, Man Charged With Murder

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey prosecutors have filed murder charges against a Pennsylvania man in the death of a male model from Brooklyn, whose remains were found nearly two years ago.
Middlesex County Prosecutor Bruce Kaplan said 35-year-old Anthony Byrd of Lancaster was arrested Wednesday at his home. He’s charged in the death of 30-year-old Jubar “Esco” Croswell of Brooklyn, who Kaplan said was an acquaintance of Byrd’s.
Bail was set at $3 million cash for Byrd, who’s being held in Pennsylvania pending extradition.
Kaplan wouldn’t comment on a possible motive or say how Croswell was killed. It’s believed he died a few weeks before his remains were found in a wooded area of Edison.
Kaplan wouldn’t say if investigators think Croswell was killed there or was dumped at the site.
