Chamber Plans Sustainability Panel on April 26

The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and its Real Estate and Development (RED) Committee will explore Brooklyn’s sustainable future and present at an energy symposium on Thursday, April 26, at National Grid in MetroTech.

Titled “Brooklyn: The Future is Sustainable,” the event will highlight several projects in the borough that rely on renewable energy technologies from wind- and solar-powered lighting to geothermal heat-featuring venues, including those at the Brooklyn Navy Yard, Brooklyn Botanic Garden and Broadway Stages.

The following panelists will be featured at the event:

• Andrew Kimball, president of the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corp.

• Scot Medbury, president of the Brooklyn Botanic Garden

• John Salmon, director of business development at Solar Energy Systems, the firm responsible for creating and maintaining the solar photovoltaic roof at Broadway Stages.

• Dr. Gerry Gorman, president and COO of LumiSolair., a Brooklyn-based renewable energy lighting company.

Sponsors include National Grid, Con Edison, the Brooklyn Navy Yard, Broadway Stages and Solar Energy Systems.
The free event will take place from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. in the National Grid Auditorium at 1 MetroTech Center. Space is limited, so advance registration is required.
