Police Seek Coney Bank Robber

Police are seeking a man who tried to rob a customer at a Chase Bank at 2909 West 17th St. in Coney Island on Wednesday, March 7. An man in his 20s was filling out a deposit slip when the suspect, described as a black man between 25 and 35 years old, about 5-foot-9 and weighing 170 pounds, grabbed him from behind. Police say the perp punched the victim on the cheek and tried to grab cash from the victim’s hands. When the victim held onto the money, the perp fled. Police say the suspect was wearing dark pants, dark shoes, a blue shirt, a beige jacket and a dark wool hat and carried a black backpack.
