A mother accused of abandoning her newborn daughter in Crown Heights yesterday has been arrested, according to NY1.

Shoshannah Mohammad, 27, whose daughter’s umbilical cord was still attached when she was left by her mother according to police, was charged with acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17.

Police told NY1 that Mohammad was seen carrying her newborn on Rogers Avenue in Crown Heights on Wednesday. She reportedly rang the doorbell of a brownstone in the neighborhood and told a tenant that she couldn’t take care of her daughter before leaving the baby and departing the area.
