Elderly Man Fatally Struck by Van in Borough Park

BOROUGH PARK — A 69-year-old man was hit and killed by a van while crossing a street in Borough Park Monday afternoon, the Daily News reported.

The victim was crossing New Utrecht Avenue near 12th Avenue when he was struck by a northbound van at about 12:30 p.m.

He was taken to Maimonides Medical Center, where he died.

The driver of the van stayed at the scene and is not expected to be charged, according to the Daily News.

Less than a week ago, on Wednesday, March 7, another Brooklyn 69-year-old, Margaret Myers, was tragically killed by a vehicle in a hit-and-run in East New York. In that incident, the driver of the offending vehicle was arrested and booked on multiple charges.
