Ash Wednesday is tomorrow and Brooklyn Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio, spiritual leader of the borough’s Catholics, will distribute ashes at the noon mass at Saint James Basilica, located on James Street and Cathedral Place, the diocese announced. Ash Wednesday marks the beginning of the Lenten season for Catholics. It is a day Catholics traditionally observe by abstaining from meat and reflecting on their sins. DiMarzio will distribute the ashes on the foreheads of the congregants during the mass.
