BAY RIDGE — Civic leaders and educators are working together to raise funds for the Stephen Siller Tunnel To Towers Foundation, which builds homes for wounded war veterans.

The Foundation, named after Sept. 11 hero Stephen Siller, is raising money to buy land and construct a house for U.S. Army Private Bryan Dilberian. Dilberian, 26, lost his two legs and his left arm when a bomb exploded while he was on duty in Iraq on July 1, 2011. He is a Fort Hamilton High School graduate.

Jack Malone, who is working on behalf of the foundation, said Visitation Academy is sponsoring a cookie sale on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, at the school, 8902 Ridge Boulevard. The proceeds will be donated to the foundation.

Another fund-raiser will take place in the spring, Malone said. The Rev. Msgr. Jamie Gigantiello, who was a chef before joining the priesthood, will be the celebrity chef at a fund-raiser at Hunter's Steak House, 9408 Fourth Ave., on May 21.
