Oh Orly,

I have a neighbor who is very sweet and we have nice chats inthe elevator. Unfortunately, he has bad breath. I am afraid ofoffending him, but I don’t want to smell stale coffee every time wesay hello. Help!

I could not help but feel your pain. I was in a similar situation.Well, you can offer him a mint. Or say, I bet you had coffee fromthe corner coffee shop. He will probably ask, How do you know?or, Why do you say that? and you can say, I can smell it andchuckle politely.

I would definitely mention it in some way. Be creative; he willeventually get the message.
