Local groups stage live book reading at Adelphi

Two Bay Ridge cultural groups teamed up earlier this month tobring a bestselling novel to life on the Adelphi Academystage.

From Page to Stage… presents Juliet was performed onTuesday, August 2nd, and drew around 80 theater and book lovers towatch the first in a series of collaborative efforts between TheBookMark Shoppe and Jeff Samaha Theater Productions/Ridge Chorale.Juliet chronicles the a young woman’s journey to discoverher famous ancestor’s breathtaking and dangerous past in Italy,where Shakespeare’s star-crossed lovers lived and died.

The stage reading at Adelphi gave the characters voices whileadding music, visuals and sound effects. Author Anne Fortier wasalso on hand to answer questions and sign books.

Books are available at The BookMark Shoppe, 8415 Third Avenue,where a monthly book club is also delving into the book.
