Cops and community unite for day of fun

It was a day for sharing, having fun and building bridgesbetween neighbors, cultures and police at the ninth annual UnityShowcase Festival hosted by NYPD Patrol Borough Brooklyn South,held last Sunday, July 10 in Prospect Park.

Police officers from 13 precincts serving 40 neighborhoodsranging from Red Hook to Bay Ridge, and Borough Park to Canarsie,were in attendance, handing out information about fire and gunsafety along with food from around the world – vegetable samosasand beef patties from Flatbush, Danish pastries from Coney Island,baklava and Chinese roast pork buns from Sheepshead Bay, andMexican bread from Sunset Park.

The concept is of Epcot, where people tour different countriesof the world, explained NYPD Chief Joseph Fox. Here, you tour theprecincts and communities of Brooklyn South.
