Steven Klein has been appointed chief operatingofficer of Northfield Bancorp. Klein joined Northfield as chieffinancial officer in March, 2005, and will retain that position. Diane Boyar-Spanakos was sworn in as a CriminalCourt judge by Mayor Michael Bloomberg on February 22 for athree-year term. Boyar-Spanakos is married to MichelSpanakosBrooklyn D.A. Charles Hynes. Boyar-Spanakosgraduated from the University of Arizona and received her lawdegree from Temple Law School. Previously, she had been a staffattorney in the Legal Aid Society’s criminal defense division, andsupervisor of the Brooklyn Defender Service. She taught criminallaw for two years at St. John’s University Law School. The Spanakosfamily has nine practicing attorneys, with the oldest beingWilliam M. Spanakos
