It is said that one night a year, the spirits of Brooklyn past come back to roam again. As the light fades, ghosts and ghouls wander the streets of our borough, scaring the willies out of anyone who crosses their path.

This year goblins of all shapes and sizes (even doggie goblins) will be haunting parades, parties, and streets and alleys. What follows is the most complete list of Brooklyn Halloween events — for those who dare. Visit brooklyneagle.com for last minute updates.

Friday, October 26

Monster Mash and Halloween Harvest at Brooklyn Children’s Museum: Friday, October 26th (3 – 7 p.m.) and Saturday, October 27th (3 – 8 p.m.) Michael Jackson “Thriller” dance tribute, Brooklyn NETS players (Friday night only), DJ Kev White, entertainment. Purchase tickets in advance online.

Gravesend Inn: City Tech’s Theatreworks’ haunted hotel with skeleton pirates, talking paintings and a grisly bathroom. Thursday, October 25 1–5 p.m.; Friday, October 26 10 a.m.–3 p.m., 6–9 p.m.; Saturday, October 27 1–5 p.m., 6–9 p.m. New York City College of Technology, Voorhees Building. $6, students $5. Ages 6 and up.

Saturday and Sunday, October 27 and 28

Brooklyn Heights Halloween Parade: Saturday, October 27 at 10 a.m. at the Pierrepont Playground, between Pierrepont Place, Pierrepont Street and the Promenade. Bake sale, photographer and face painters. (Rain date: October 28.) Volunteers: [email protected].

Puppetry Arts 8th Annual Haunted Halloween Carnival: Saturday October 27th, 11 a.m. – 4 p.m., 1st Street Recreation Center between 4th and 3rd Avenues in Park Slope, Brooklyn. The indoor blowout blast will host rides, haunter house, activities, special appearances by the Staten Island Yankees and Star Wars characters and tons of giveaways. More at 718-768-3703.

Carroll Park Kids Parade and Karaoke Party: Saturday, October 27. Parade: 11:30 a.m. Gather in front of the Robert Acito Park House. Karaoke Party 6 – 9 p.m. Lion’s Roar Karaoke, hot cider and snacks in the park. Costumes and $1 donation encouraged, but not required.

Fort Greene Halloween Festival: Saturday, ctober 27, noon – 3 p.m. Fort Greene Park. Hayrides, games, sack races, face painting, stilt-walkers, entertainers and free pumpkins to decorate, as well as a spooky cemetery and a kiddie costume parade. For dogs: The Great PUPkin, sponsored by Fort Greene PUPS. Rain date will be October 28.

Ghouls and Gourdes at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden: Saturday, October 27, noon-6 p.m.
Kids under 12 free. Performances, crafts, “Planet Pumpkin,” “Weird Workshops,” “Throwback Theatre,” costume parade, book tent with author readings and more. More at bbg.org

Halloween Haunted Walk and More in Prospect Park: Saturday and Sunday, October 27 and 28, various times. Events include the Halloween Haunted Walk on Lookout Hill, a carnival on the Nethermead, Creepy Crawlies at the Audubon Center, stories at Lefferts Historical House, Boo at the Zoo and more.

The House of Ichabod Crane: Saturday, October 27 and Sunday, October 28 at 2 p.m. Old Stone House. Actors conjure the spirit of Ichabod Crane and weave Washington Irving’s “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” with real-life history. $15, children ages 9 and up $10. Ages 9 and up.

Howl-o-Ween Doggie Costume Parade and Contest: Sunday, October 28, 1 – 3 p.m. Brooklyn Heights Promenade/ Remsen Street. Afterparty and winners announced 4:40 p.m. at the Vinegar Hill Pet Clinic, 57 Front Street, DUMBO. The annual Howl-o-ween and Mutts-querade parade on the Brooklyn Heights Promenade will have you barking. Entries can be purchased at Perfect Paws at 102 Hicks St. $25 per entrant. Pre-register until the day before the parade. 100 percent of all proceeds go to local dog-related charities. All entries receive a goodie doggie bag.

The Moxie Spot Halloween Monster Mash: Saturday, October 27, 6 – 8:30 p.m. at the Moxie Spot, 81 Atlantic Ave. Family-friendly costume dance party, gift bags. Sat Oct 27 6–8:30pm. The Moxie Spot. $2.50 per child, $5 maximum per family; $2.50 admission fee waived for every $15 spent on food or beverages. Ages 1 to 11.

Ascarium: A Pirate Adventure: At the New York Aquarium in Coney Island, Saturday, October 27, 11 – 5 p.m. Haunted Sea-fari in the “Explore the Shore” exhibit, terrifying tunes of the Brigands, a one-man vaudeville show and goblin sharks and vampire squid. Buccaneer-themed games, collages and trick-or-treating round. Free with Total Experience admission, and for children under 13 and in costume.

City Stomp Live: Halloween Edition: Family concert on Saturday, Oct. 27, 3 p.m. at Littlefield in Gowanus. Kids howls like wolves, jump, play and rock out to music. Doors and cash bar open at 2:30 p.m. for activities, snacks and giveaways. 622 Degraw Street, between Third and Fourth Avenues.

Coney Island Children’s Halloween Parade: Saturday, October 27, 11 a.m.–4 p.m. MCU Park / Luna Park. Two haunted houses—too creepy for children under 14. For the little ones: Coney Island Dancers performance, magic shows, face painting, costume contest and costumed characters. Parade line-up begins at 1:30 p.m.). Afterwards, free rides for all participants!

Rolie Polie Guacamole Costume Party Tour: Saturday, October 27, noon – 4 p.m. at St. Johns Place at Underhill Avenue. Get the kids in costume for a performance at the Prospect Heights Health Harvest Fair. Free.

Aviator Halloween Spooktacular: Saturday, Oct. 27, and Sunday, October 28, noon –8 p.m., Aviator Sports and Events Center. Hayrides, haunted walk, pumpkin decorating, pie-eating contest and craft fair (on Sunday only). After 6 p.m., little ones enter at their own risk. $13 in advance, at the door $18. All ages.

Musical BOO-Fest: Saturday, October 27, 1 p.m. Brooklyn Public Library, Dweck Center. Costumed characters play haunted instruments, face painting and treats.

Halloween Walking Tour: Murder, Mayhem, Spirits and Ghosts at Green-Wood Cemetery: Saturday, October 27, and Sunday, October 28, 1 p.m. Green-Wood’s resident historian Jeff Richman, clad in 19th-century garb, leads visitors through some of the historic cemetery’s spookiest sights, including the graves of famous murderers and victims and eerie catacombs. Reservations are recommended—very popular. $20. All ages.

Kids Halloween Party at powerHouse: Sunday, October 28 at 4 p.m. powerHouse Arena, 37 Main Street, DUMBO. Festive readings featuring Patty Bowman and her new picture book “The Amazing Hamweenie.” Free. Ages 3 to 8.

Happy Owl-o-ween! Sunday, October 28, 5 – 6:30 p.m. Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. Stories and facts owls, study owl pellets. Call in advance to reserve a spot. Ages 7 to 12.

All Hallows Eve Bash at Brooklyn Bridge Park: Saturday, October 27, 8 – 12 p.m. Hosted by the BBPC Junior Committee. Music, hors d’oeuvres, open bar and wine tasting. Tickets: http://bbpcallhallowseve.eventbrite.com/

Park Slope Halloween Parade: Wednesday, October 31, 6:30 p.m. Tremendous parade. This year’s theme is “Gods, Goddesses, and Superheroes.” Down Seventh Avenue from 14th Street. Parade ends at the Old Stone House on Fifth Avenue between Third and Fourth Streets. Volunteer at: [email protected]

Marty Golden’s Halloween Walk and Fairytale Forest: State Senator Martin J. Golden’s annual event on Wednesday, October 31, from 3:30 – 9 p.m. at Owl’s Head Park, 67th Street and Colonial Road. Haunted Walk, Fairytale Forest, pumpkin patch, apple orchard, coloring and costume contest. The event will also feature kids rides, pony rides, face painting, sand art, a Trackless Train Ride, “The Batmobile” and “Dracula’s Food Court”. $1 and $5 donations. BAMboo! Wednesday, October 31, 4 – 7 p.m. Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) 30 Lafayette Avenue, Fort greene. Street performances, bouncy castle, costume contest. This year’s medieval theme features knights, princesses, jesters and wizards.

Jam on Dumbo Halloween Concert: Wednesday, October 31, 4:30 – 5:30 p.m. Superfine, 126 Front Street, DUMBO. Rockdoves concert and a kiddie costume contest. Superfine. Suggested donation $10. All ages.
